    Sunglasses Lotion Hat

Summer Skincare protection is especially important. During the months of June, July and August the sun’s rays are extremely hot and the sun index is high. This means you will get a sunburn if you go outside without protection.

    Summer Sun Tips . . .

    • Wash your face more frequently in the summer.
    • Sunscreen is one of the most important skin care products to use in the summer. Choose a sunscreen that has an SPF of 15 or higher to protect your skin from the UVA and UVB rays. Budget brands are just as effective as expensive brands!
    • Always apply sun screen on clean skin. If you’re going to be out in the sun, sunscreen should be part of your daily skin care routine.
    • Put about a handful of sunscreen on a clean, dry face avoiding the eye area 30 minutes before going out in the sun.
    • If you are in the sun for long periods of time, re-apply sunscreen every couple of hours.
    • Overcast weather still requires sunscreen in the summer. Eighty percent of UV rays are still present on cloudy days.
    • Wear a hat! A hat can protect areas often exposed to the sun, such as neck, ears, eyes and scalp. In order to protect your face from the sun, the hat should have a 3 inch rim around it.
    • Wear sunglasses to help protect your eyes from the sun damage.
    • If you get a sunburn, one of the best remedies is aloe. If you have an aloe plant, snip off a leaf from the plant and rub the juice gently on your face. This will sooth and help heal your sunburn. You can also get aloe vera gel from a drug store.
    • Take a break from the Sun! The sun is strongest between 11 am and 3 pm so why not spend some time in the shade!
    • Girls, have “FUN in the SUN” this Summer, but protect your skin!
