FAQ

1. How do I begin a TCG Club?

Steps for beginning a TCG Club:

* Obtain pastoral approval
* Secure helpers for your meetings
* Fill out a club application online
* Decide how often your club will meet (Once or twice a month is suggested)
* Decide with your helpers what issues your girls are facing that you could address
~ Issues such as friendships, ministry, peer pressure, fashion, boyfriends, etc.

* Decide on a name for your club chapter (Suggestions can be found here)
* Decide with your club members what your goals and motto will be for your club
* Hold meetings in fun places; the park, the mall, on a hike, at a restaurant, etc.
2. Do the ages have to be 10-18?

Ages 10-18 is the target age that this ministry is focused on; however, feel free to set the ages according to the needs of your church.

In one situation,  a “Sugar Cookie Club” was started in addition, for ages 5-9.

3. Do the clubs have to be girls only?

Girls and boy face different issues.

Although some issues could be adressed together, some would be better discussed without the presence of the opposite sex.

The purpose of Todays Christian Girl is to root and ground our girls in Christ.

The same need is present for our young men as well.

Many TCG clubs are now adding a second club - TCB - Todays Christian Boy - so that they can strengthen their young men and provide a fun way to learn about God as well.

What we recommend is that separate clubs are formed and that the two clubs are brought together on occasion.

Of course, you are free to do what you feel works best for your church.

4. Do you provide curriculum for Club Meetings?

On our website, we have devotions that you can use, as well as club meeting ideas.

Consider these things when deciding your club meeting topics:

What issues are your club members currently dealing with?

* Do they need to know how to make and maintain friendships?

* Are they having a hard time understanding holiness or the power of uncut hair?

* One club had a Hair-do Party and fixed crazy hair dos on each other.

        Lots of pictures were taken, along with a power point about the importance of hair in the Bible.

        Discussion and question time followed the powerpoint.

Has your church had a missionary recently?

        A club in Wisconsin had a visiting missionary.  The next club meeting was held at an African restaurant.

        A discussion was held as to what it would be like to be a missionary in Africa.

Other issues that your girls may be interested in are:

        * Ministry – finding yours

        * Witnessing

        * Learning to balance a checkbook

        * Scrapbooking

        * Learning to make and follow a budget

        * How to host a party

        * Volunteering for community service

                A club in Wisconsin regularly does clean ups for public areas in their town.  With their club members in TCG t-shirts, they are recognized and are a witness to the town.

        * Peer pressure

        * Fashion.

                Find fun ways to discuss being fashionable, yet godly.

                Host a fashion show where fun, godly outfits are modeled

                Challenge each club member to come up with an outfit from a Thrift Store

5. Should we have the same teacher each week?

 Although every club should have a lead director, there are no doubt many ladies in your church

with obvious talents that would be more than happy to share their knowledge with your club.

One may offer a class on painting, scrapbooking, hosting, cooking, excercising, etc.

The church secretary might hold a fun class on balancing a checkbook or budgeting.

You might even bring in one of the men to teach how to change a flat tire, change the oil or even wash a car.

6. Should the format be the same for each meeting?

Keep your meetings fun and fresh.

Most church events happen at the church, so vary your meeting places if you can.

Consider such locations as the Mall, taking a nature hike, or at a local Animal Shelter for community service.

Parks, farms and individual homes are great and fun meeting places as well.

And DON’T forget the snacks. Preteen and teenage girls love snacks!

7. How do we fund our TCG meetings?

Some churches fund TCG meetings through their Youth or Sunday School Departments.

Others charge a small club fee each meeting.

Still others fund raise for special events or trips.

A suggestion is to make a presentation and show a Power Point about your TCG Club during a church service

and ask the congregation to sponsor club meetings.

Teachers that are invited in, might be asked if they could provide materials that are needed.

Club members can take turns providing the snacks for each meeting or everyone can pitch in together.

8. Can we use TCG as an outreach?

Absolutely!  This is an excellent tool to bring unsaved young ladies to the Lord.

 Parents - saved and unsaved - desire a safe place for their girls to go where they can meet new friends.

A TCG club meeting, as it is different from a church service, can be less a less intimidating introduction to the church.

Being around our godly girls, they will begin to see what “Livin’ Right and Lovin’ Life” is all about.

Note: Several of our clubs are seeing great results from club members inviting their unchurched friends.

Parents and grandparents are coming to the Lord through their Todays Christian Girl ministry

9. Is there a charge to join TCG?

It’s absolutely free.

10. Then why register?

1. To show our girls the Big Picture

        * Our map shows every place we have a TCG Club

2. To connect with other TCG Clubs around the world

        * Clubs can reach out and connect with other clubs near them or across the globe

3. To show what God is doing through TCG

       * It helps us to keep track of it all
